Film crew produced comedic thriller shot in downtown Billings

The film is written, produced and directed by Buddy MacKinder. The premise is that a small-town magazine owner has to choose between life and friends once he discovers that everyone he puts on the cover of his magazine gets murdered. Billings filmmakers plan to wrap the filming this weekend of the new comedic thriller, “Hubbub.”

Jason “Big J” Harris plays the magazine owner. Other actors featured in the full-length film include Ellen Soderberg, Aaron Malek, Catherine Langlas Bergman, Casey Conlon, Kenn Patterson, Vint Lavinder, Tom Paxinos, and Diane Kylander.

MacKinder said he got the idea for the film during an interview with the now-defunct Billings magazine, Noise & Color. MacKinder returned to the offices where that interview with the local magazine was held to film some scenes for the film. He also shot scenes at Hooligans and under Skypoint. It is due for release this winter.
