J.J. Abrams Teams with Tavis Smiley for Michael Jackson TV Series Now

Abrams’ Bad Robot is teaming up with author Tavis Smiley to produce a series on the final months of Michael Jacksons’ life. The event, being produced for Warner Bros. Television, is an adaptation of Before You Judge Me, Smiley’s biography on the King of Pop, being released on June 21st. J.J. Abrams’ is best known for his sci-fi and action work, but now he’s delving into a new frontier: music biography.

According to Warner Bros. TV, the book “examines the soaring highs and deep lows faced by the late pop star — his constant hunt for privacy in a life that was more public than almost any other, and the pressures he endured as someone whose fame made him socially fragile and almost unable to live.”
