Sandberg famously urged for women to take control at work in her 2013 publication Lean In. It encouraged girls to ditch their own careers by enhancing their negotiation approaches, trying to meet leadership roles on the job and taking charge of their life.

Obama’s remarks aren’t the primary criticism of Sandberg’s strategy, which can be accused of indicating that human women need to be the answer to workplace inequality instead of widespread coverage changes.
