Pierce Brosnan Took First Major TV Role Since Remington Steele

Brosnan’s last starring TV role was Remington Steele, the NBC detective dramedy that launched his career and ran from 1982 to 1987. The Son will be his first live-action TV role since 1989 (he lent his voice to The Simpsons in 2001 and Thomas & Friends in 2008).

Erstwhile James Bond Pierce Brosnan will make his first return to TV in 30 years next year, after taking on the starring role on AMC’s new Western drama series The Son, Deadline reports.

The Son, which begins production this month, follows the rise and fall of a powerful Texas family. Brosnan will play Eli McCullough, the family patriarch, who was born on the day Texas became an independent republic and is having trouble adjusting to the now not-so-Wild West. He took over the role after Sam Neill dropped out.
