The 19-year-old, named locally as Lucy Pinder, has been described by heartbroken friends as “an angel” and an “amazing lass” after she died near Yorkshire’s Flamingo Land yesterday. Emotional tributes have poured in for a young student killed in a horror smash after a day out at a theme park .

Despite emergency services desperately trying to save the tragic teenager she was pronounced dead at the scene after the Mercedes she was travelling in reportedly overturned and smashed into a tree and metal gate post.

The driver and two other passengers have been arrested in connection with the collision, but police told Mirror Online they cannot confirm what for, saying the investigation was “complicated.”

The group were travelling back from Flamingo Land when the horrific crash happened just before 3.22pm, writes Gazette Live

Miss Pinder, who lived in Thornaby and studied at Stockton Riverside College, was a rear seat passenger in the car.

A 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, also from Thornaby, were also passengeTag Heuer Replica Watchesrs in the car and required treatment for minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man from the same town, was arrested in connection with the crash and is still being questioned in police custody.

He suffered minor facial injuries which were treated at York District Hospital.

All three are currently being held in custody for questioning.

The blue Mercedes C220 saloon car had been travelling west prior to the crash.

Tributes have been paid on social media to Miss Pinder from friends.

Many people have changed their Facebook profile picture to a balloon and a message “R.I.P Lucy XX”.

One person said: “RIP Lucy. God has truly gained an angel” while another described her as “such an amazing lass”.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the blue Mercedes C220 saloon car before the accident, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police (locally) on 101, select option two, and ask for the major collision investigation team.
