If you want to reply to a message, you can draw on the screen and it’ll pick up what you’re writing. Perhaps the biggest feature for the new smartwatch OS is called Scribble. It’s the ability of the gadget to recognise handwriting.

On a more serious note, the company has also added an emergency contact feature on the watch. Press and hold the side button and the wearable will give you the option to dial the emergency services.

It then uses your iPhone to call 911 (or 999 for us in the UK) and will also send a message to your emergency contact and show your Apple medical ID information.

There’s also a new health-based app called Breathe that hinges on mindfulness and relaxation. Considering the Apple Watch can measure your heartbeat, it might prove a big hit with fitness fans.

A few of the more cosmetic changes include several new Watch faces to choose from.

There’s a new Minnie Mouse watch face to compliment the Mickey face that’s been available since the Watch launched.
